Burning with urination, urgency, frequency, and lower abdominal discomfort are the classic signs. We confirm the diagnosis with in office urine testing and send a culture when needed, which matters: culture results identify the exact bacteria and its sensitivities, so recurrent or stubborn infections get the right antibiotic instead of another guess.
Recurrent UTIs Deserve a Workup
Two or more infections in six months, or three in a year, is a pattern worth investigating, not just re treating. We evaluate contributing factors, review prevention strategies, and coordinate urology referral when structural evaluation is appropriate. Seek urgent care or the emergency room for fever with back or flank pain, which can signal a kidney infection.
